The Subaru Stella Plug-In, an electrically-powered concept based on the small Japanese-exclusive Stella, will be on display at the G8 Summit in Hokkaido Toyako, to be held in July.

Four of the five units on hand will be used to transport government officials and other participants at the summit. Another will serve for mail collection and delivery in the vicinity of Toyako throughout the duration of the event.

The Stella Plug-In Concept is 3,395-mm long, which puts it between a smart fortwo and a Honda Fit. Generating 53 horsepower and 111 lb-ft of torque, the electric motor is fed by a 346-volt lithium-ion battery pack. This four-seater can reach a top speed of 100 km/h.

The Subaru Stella Plug-In Concept is designed to accelerate the development of a new generation of hybrid vehicles to be sold in the near future.
