Subaru Technica International (STI) has been building high-performance models for the past 20 years, and they'll be proudly showing the public their latest work on October 24th at the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. The latest, third-generation Impreza WRX STi is the most recent machine to come from Subaru's performance division, and the adrenaline-loving public can hardly wait.

Subaru says the new STi model is "designed to deliver maximum pleasure through its unique combination of power, performance and handling". It is developed with the intention of winning the FIA World Rally Championship in the future. It's got five doors too, so the family can come along for the ride.

The new model carries forth the same sporting spirit as the original STi-designated Impreza which as launched in 1994. It had a Japanese-specification 250-horsepower engine and 2,650-lb curb weight-- enabling serious performance. The original STi was tuned to win the WRC, and since then the Subaru World Rally Car has been built from the WRX STi platform.

Based in Mitaka, Tokyo, STI is a fully Subaru-owned company whose name has wound up on their highest performance models. STI was founded back in 1988, and their cars have largely become testing vehicles for racing, with feedback then used in the development of production models.
