Beginning in September 2011, a six-speed automatic transmission with stop/start technology will be available in four European Volvo vehicles, including the S60, V60, V70 and S80 powered by the 2.0-litre D3 turbodiesel engine, in order to help reduce their fuel consumption by 0.4 litre per 100 kilometres.
The addition of this innovative system, which turns off the engine at idle and turns it back on as soon as the brake pedal is released, is part of Volvo's 'DRIVe Towards Zero' emissions.
