The Mustang was introduced in 1964 and to celebrate its 35th birthday, Ford totally revamped the 1999 model. The 2000 edition continues where the '99 left off. Its silhouette is in keeping with the Mustang identity, with the long hood and squat deck proportions. The air vents on the hood are also there, but they're only decorative. The convertible version, with its flashy eye-catching styling, is winning over more and more fans...
Inside, they've retained the double cockpit, in true Mustang tradition. The car also boasts relatively comfortable rear seats.
With its 190 horsepower V6 engine, the Mustang is popular for those who are looking for a sporty without necessarily high performance. Consequently, the basic Mustang is less expensive to insure than the GT version, which is powered by a 260 horsepower V8 engine capable of acceleration which is distinctly snappier.
As for reliability, this car is about in the middle of the pack for its category. Also, keep in mind that winter driving can be somewhat more difficult as the Mustang has rear-wheel drive.
