The German luxury carmaker has announced the availability of their upcoming A4 in an Avant model. That's Audi for station-wagon, by the way.
The next-generation model is nearly 5 inches longer and 10 percent stiffer than the one it replaces, but the frame is also 10 percent lighter, Audi claims. This creates a strong foundation for a revised drivetrain and suspension setup. Audi engineers have carefully tuned the all-wheel-drive A4 Avant to balance out comfort and driving pleasure, while the added traction of Quattro brings an all-weather dynamic to the equation.
The folks in Ingolstadt have created spacious and well-thought-out luggage space as well- with features like a motorized liftgate, one-touch cargo-cover, reversible cargo-floor and tie-down eyelets to keep belongings from moving around. This could be important- as the A4 Avant is available with a pair of powerful gasoline engines.
Canadian shoppers get a turbo-four engine or a 3.2 litre V6 maxing out the model range with 265 horsepower. The engines employ Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) technology to ensure that every molecule of fuel is put to the best possible use. A4 Avant is available with an additional selection of gas and diesel engines in Europe, however.
The A4 Avant and Sedan go on sale simultaneously towards the end of this year.
