The latest member of the Golf family will make its official debut next week at the Geneva International Motor Show. This will be the very first GTI Cabriolet to join the ranks of the Golf, and the world-renowned GTI engine makes it the sportiest, most powerful model of its class.
Buyers have the choice between a 6-speed manual transmission and a six-speed DSG gearbox. The engine punches out 200 ponies and 207 lb-ft of torque and allows the GTI Cabriolet to dash from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 237 km/h (with the top up). It sips around 7.6L/100 km of fuel.
The GTI Cabriolet features all the telltale GTI traits, including red piping surrounding the radiator’s signature honeycomb grille, GTI badges and a large air intake. It’s shod in standard 17” wheels. The cabrio drops its top in 9.5 seconds at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
