As for the rest of the field, one could not help noticing the very beautiful 275 GTB/C Speciale, winner of the GT category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1965. The yellow Belgian Écurie Francorchamps no 24 was driven at the time by Mairesse and Blaton. Among the few “one-off” Ferraris, let’s also mention the 250 LM Stradale, chassis number 6025, unveiled at the 1965 Geneva Auto Show. You may recall that the last Ferrari to win the famed Le Mans endurance race was the 250 LM privately entered in 1965 by N.A.R.T. (North American Racing Team, created by legendary Luigi Chinetti) driven by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory. The white road car exhibited at Cavallino was followed by a series of some 30 identical machines.
Ferrari Quebec
As mentioned earlier, the Cavallino Classic is also the place where we learned of Umberto Bonfa’s new appointment as President of the exclusive Ferrari Maserati dealership in Quebec. Umberto informed us that construction will be starting momentarily on the new locale to replace the present dealership situated at 5155 de Sorel, off Autoroute Décarie.
Ferrari and motorsport aficionados may also be pleased to note that the Prancing Horse will again be honoured at Circuit Mont-Tremblant in 2010, notably for the Ferrari Festival (June 25-27) and Le Sommet des Légendes (July 9-11).
