So much history in such a small package
And it's finally arrived in all its Beetle goodness. I have to admit, I wasn't incredibly excited about the launch. I understood what an icon the Beetle was and what it meant for Volkswagen, but I felt no connection to the vehicle. I hated the New Beetle from the moment I saw it, and even though my ride home from the hospital was in an original Bug, my emotions just weren't in it. Until I saw the redesigned body and got behind the wheel.

Here's what everyone I've spoken to about their past Beetles was talking about. Here's an icon that's still going strong. Here's a vehicle that's out to make more experiences, to tell stories, to ingrain itself in pop culture and today's multimedia-driven world. Here's a car that's going to once again revolutionize, perhaps not the automotive industry, but itself and its company. Here is a game-changer in the truest sense of the word.

Just because the VW Beetle makes you feel something deep inside, it's an incredible vehicle—in my opinion. I've waxed on and on about how cars are extensions of ourselves and show the world a little bit about who we are; and I can't think of a better car to do that in than the VW Beetle. Well, I can, but this isn't an article about that particular Bavarian-bought brand.

It's truly incredible to think of the long history the Volkswagen Beetle has had around the world, and how influential this vehicle has been. Influential on a personal level (from owner to owner) and within the automotive industry, proving that a cheap car can exist and be functional and practical as well.

I'm amazed and honoured to be a part of this car's particular history-in-the-making, and it seems that perhaps I've come full circle: The Beetle was there for my entry into the world, and I was there for its incredible rebirth.
