Well, not the car per se, but an ad about the car? That's right, a South African magazine is currently running a VW Golf R advertisement that invites the reader to ingest the page the add is on, alluding to the fact that the Golf R eats up the road, so you should too.
Um, does this mean we're going to start seeing more and more people chowing down on magazine ads on the metro now? Hardly.
What this is is another attempt at VW to shock and awe the public into taking notice. Gone are the days of VW's clever, in-your-face '60s-era ads, and frankly if they ran those now they'd be in a spot of trouble for sure. But this new eat-a-magazine-page ploy proves that manufacturers are kind of grasping at straws in order to be original and catch our attention.
Isn't the Golf R attractive enough on its own?
