Genesis GV70

Here’s what I had to say about this luxury compact SUV, after driving it on different occasions:
The styling is absolutely attractive, and Genesis has managed to make this compact SUV distinct from most others already out there, without it being a radical departure.
While the GV80 betrays its size with some heaviness from the acceleration and steering and only decent agility in cornering, the smaller GV70 makes better use of the available power and delivers nimble performance. Particularly in Sport mode, the steering is tight and gives good feedback from the road, and the gear changes are absolutely spot on. Throttle response is excellent and super-quick, allowing for very strong acceleration from a stop but particularly between 60-100 km/h.
The remarkable thing about the new GV70 is that, right from its first year on the market, it is in my opinion the best product Hyundai’s luxury brand has put together, good as the G70, G80, G90 and GV80 are in their own right.
… one striking aspect of our road trip was the sheer number of people who felt compelled, completely unbidden, to remark on the nice looks of the GV70. (Its beauty was likely enhanced in their eyes by the superb Barossa Burgundy paint finish you see in the images). Almost invariably, the compliments were accompanied by questions about the brand. Namely, what’s a Genesis? Who makes it? It was about time the automaker stuck its name in big fat letters on the back of their vehicles instead of the tiny, illegible badging they used previously!
