4. VW I.D. Buzz Concept
For the fourth time in the past 15 years, Volkswagen presents a concept vehicle based on its legendary minivan. Each time it has been well-received, but up to now consumers’ hopes of seeing a production model come out of it have been dashed. But the recent diesel-engine emissions scandal that the carmaker has suffered through, and the subsequent need to rebuild its image, may have the unintended benefit of finally seeing an electric version of the lovable Micro Bus be put into production some day. As with VW’s previous concepts, the design is a winner. And though it may be unrealistic for the super-futuristic interior of the concept to be reproduced in a production model, if the manufacturer can take the best elements of the four concepts created to date, it’s easy to imagine consumers beginning a long love affair with the result. Never forget, however, the unpredictable nature of the brain trust at Volkswagen!
