Alerts that warn the driver of surrounding traffic are now commonplace in our vehicles. It can even get annoying, because they are so alert that they often serve to agitate more than anything. However, one alert in particular has earned my respect over the years, and that is the forward collision alert, often accompanied by automatic emergency braking. We'll never know how many collisions are avoided with this technology, but you can imagine it's huge.
