Now some will argue that the little Buick has no business being on this list. Fact is the carmaker’s inclusion of this small crossover to its roster a few years back was a masterstroke. Other fact is that it has become the brand’s best-selling model!

We should keep in mind the model’s humble origins – it does share a platform with the Trax, after all – but we should also acknowledge that Buick’s engineers have found to a way to enhance the in-cabin experience; the interior is comfortable and well-appointed and the materials are of high quality. Another nice surprise came when it was time to pack the (small) horde of (small) kids in the back row. Now, we’re not talking Enclave-type of room here, but the space available was quite reasonable. If you’d rather not be driving a mastodon around town, the Encore can check off a lot of your boxes.
