7. Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon

Here we’re in the mid-size pickup segment, widely thought to have died some five years ago, when there were only two lonely models left in it. Lo and behold, the past three years have seen a number of models return to the category, starting with the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon in 2015.

While in olden days these products were considered listless representatives, they are now resolutely high-calibre. Diesel and gasoline engines coexist to offer consumers more choice. Even fans of extreme off-roading will get theirs with the ZR2 variant; then there’s the even wilder Bison that’s about to make its debut.

Keep an eye on the pricing, though, as the bill can climb pretty quickly as you rise up the trim levels and throw in options.

Here are specifications for the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, and our review of the 2018 GMC Canyon.
