Still in the subcompact category, the Honda Fit – here in its DX version) is actually one of the industry’s most versatile models, due to that “Magic” rear bench.

This model, in essence a minivan that shrank in the wash, also comes with a manual transmission, which in our opinion does a far better job than the optional CVT that would cost you more money.

In 2018, the Honda Fit was named Best subcompact Car of the Year during our annual Auto123 Awards, beating out the Kia Rio and the Nissan Versa Note, among others.
