Clearly, the full-size SUV segment is not where you’ll find the most action, but it does remain a niche segment with a lot of prestige. And let’s not forget that, for the manufacturers who have products in the game, the profit margins on these vehicles are astronomical. This year, Car and Driver gives credit where credit is due, and that’s to Mercedes-Benz. No one beats the German automaker for offering refined luxury. The jury chose the GLS for the third straight year, noting the excellent value it offers as one of the main points that played in its favour.
