Subaru's popular crossover is now available in a plug-in hybrid configuration. You might recall that a prior generation of the model had been produced in a hybrid version, but it never managed to win over enough of Subaru’s famously loyal customers to survive.
This time, there’s renewed hope a Crosstrek PHEV will be successful. The PHEV configuration, available only on the Limited version, does add close to $10,000 to the gas model's bill, and in return it offers a 27-km pure electric range. To be frank, this distance isn't impressive at all, but the presence of a plug-in system does mean overall fuel consumption is reduced compared to the regular model.
