We tend to forget the Lancer, in part because of a certain Subaru Impreza that pulls most of the light into it. But Mitsubishi’s sedan (as well as the Sportback version) was sold on our market equipped with the very competent AWC four-wheel-drive system. Unfortunately, this SE AWC version was also equipped exclusively with a party-pooping continuously variable transmission 9CVT).

“… the AWC system can be switched off when you don't need it, with the help of a centre console-mounted toggle switch. You can choose 2WD (front), 4WD Auto or 4WD Lock… (The Lancer SE is) still one of the best-handling cars in its category, it still looks good, and I agree with the idea of adding an AWD version that's much more affordable than the Ralliart. A manual transmission would've been nice in this car, but otherwise, there isn't much else to complain about.”
