Aspiring ''fastest sedan on the planet'' takes Cadillac's stage
The ultimate expression of Cadillac's performance and luxury engineering just took the stage at the Toronto Auto Show. It's called the CTS-V, and it bowed to the Canadian media today, just months before it will go on sale and put the world's fastest sedans squarely in its crosshairs.
There's one mission in mind for this model. GM executives want it to be the fastest four-door on the planet.
It's dressed for the part too, having already won an award for its striking design. CTS-V designers have taken the jagged and energetic style of the standard model and redefined it visually as performance car from any angle. The fascia is deeper, more vented and instantly more aggressive than the standard car. The hood is raised, suggesting something enormous beneath it, and the grille is stretched to allow for more airflow.
"The CTS-V represents the full extension of our design, technology and performance capabilities," says Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager. "The V-Series takes the award-winning CTS sport sedan and elevates it to a position within the club of the world's most exclusive and capable cars." This year, it's going to be exported too- to Europe, the Middle East and Asia."
Driving enthusiasts all over the world will be able to enjoy the car's magnetic ride control, Brembo-brakes, and a full selection of go-fast gadgets to help harness the ethically-questionable levels of horsepower available.
Said horsepower is rated at 550 and is generated by a supercharged 6.2 litre V8. The CTS-V comes with a six-speed transmission in manual or paddle-shifted automatic. A traffic lawyer isn't included.
