Dreyer & Reinbold driver, Briton Justin Wilson earned his first ever IZOD IndyCar pole position today in Toronto at the Honda Indy after his rivals were never able really to threaten him.

The former Formula 1 driver had such a good car that he was able to go through both first two sessions of qualifying only using his harder Firestone tires while all his rivals tried in vain to beat him on the softer rubber.

The only driver who was able to give some opposition to Wilson was Penske Racing’s Will Power who finished still a distant 0.2 seconds adrift while his teammate Helio Castroneves was behind in third place.

Although American Ryan Hunter-Reay proved once again that he deserves his full-time ride in IndyCar with Andretti Autosport, finishing fourth.

Both Ganassi drivers, Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon rounded up the top 6 finalists in the Fast-Six shootout.

Canadian Alex Tagliani was also in great form as he ended up the session by placing the No.77 FAZZT Racing car in 9th spot on the grid, which is a far better conclusion than the one his countryman Paul Tracy had, finishing 24th for KV Technology after spinning in the first part of qualifying.
