Navistar International Corp. has filed amended counter-complaint against the Ford Motor Company, from whom it is seeking $2 billion in damages.

For nearly 30 years, Navistar has been Ford's supplier of diesel engines. The whole dispute began last January when Ford sued Navistar for warranty costs and engine prices related to the contract for the F series.

When this occurred, Navistar cut the supply of Power Stroke diesel engines to Ford. Shortly thereafter, a Judge ordered Navistar to resume shipments of the engine.

The amendment was done following Navistar's leaning that Ford has plans to develop its own powerplant by no later than 2012.

This is a thorn in Ford's side that it really does not need.
