Venturi Automobiles is a French manufacturer that produced a few high-performance cars in the 1980s and 90s. In 1992, Venturi also made a brief foray into Formula 1. After a few quiet years, Venturi has launched a completely different, but just as ambitious, project: the production of an electric car. The manufacturer announced that it will be opening a plant in the Sarthe region, where an all-new urban electric car will be assembled.
The plant will be located in the region where Venturi was founded in 1984, near the various suppliers Venturi will be dealing with.
It should be inaugurated sometime in 2009. As for the vehicle it will be turning out, it's scheduled for unveiling on October 2 at the 2008 Mondial de l'Automobile de Paris.
