McLaren is not only using its multi-million dollar high tech simulator to develop their Formula 1 cars. The simulator has been also used to fine-tune the handling of the new MP4-12C road car.

The McLaren simulator, located in the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Great Britain is a software-based virtual environment, which is able to accurately replicate the driving experience on any road or track surface in the world.

When preparing for real-world circuit testing, a programme is run by the McLaren Automotive development team uploading data to the simulator including corner radii, gradient, track width and the MP-12C's performance parameters. The results are said to be astonishingly accurate.

The video includes interviews with Jonathan Neale, Managing Director, McLaren Racing, Chris Goodwin, Chief Test Driver, McLaren Automotive and Gary Paffett, McLaren F1 Reserve Driver.
