Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin never hesitates to showcase his passion for cars and anything with an engine. After testing a Lada over 2,000+ kilometres to support the brand and his decision to invest in it, he recently drove another domestic product, the all-new Yo-mobile, whose name is a play on a Russian curse word.
Built by Yo-Auto, a joint venture between truck maker Yarovit and billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov (owner of the New Jersey Nets and 39th richest man in the world), this small gas-electric model reportedly burns 3.5 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, offers a range of up to 1,094 kilometres and can reach a top speed of 128 km/h.
Set to go on sale in the second half of 2012 for about CDN$15,300, it was driven by Putin to President Dimitri Medvedev's house only five kilometres away, allowing the world to see what Russian technology is capable of.
"I hope your Yo-mobile will not fall apart on the way", Putin joked while meeting Prokhorov just outside of Moscow.
We don't know if he managed to complete the short trip in one piece and if the experience turned out to be a pleasant one...
