The Dutch know the cold, too

Not familiar with Vredestein? If you’re serious about getting quality tires for your car or truck this winter, you should definitely read this.

With a rich history of tire manufacturing spanning over 100 years, Dutch-based Vredestein was purchased by India’s Apollo Tyres in 2009. Now operating as Apollo Vredestein, it continues to offer its premium, technologically advanced products with a strong focus on safety.

The expertise gained by Vredestein in over two decades of all-season tire development is applied to the current generation of its winter tire range.

Tackling all cold conditions
When drivers see ice or snow on the road, they immediately become more careful. However, they tend not to worry about the cold. That’s a mistake, because summer and all-season tires typically lose a lot of flexibility and grip when temperatures drop, compromising performance and increasing the risk of accidents.

Vredestein knows this, and its latest Wintrac xtreme S tire was designed in collaboration with renowned Italian studio house Giugiaro (the “S” actually stands for style) to tackle all cold conditions. Indeed, it’s a high-performance tire that provides superior grip and superb steering precision for exceptional safety on snow, ice, and slush, as well as wet and dry cold surfaces.

The central block has straight sipes for maximum traction and a shorter braking distance on snow and ice, while the zigzag sipes in the shoulders ensure superior handling on slippery surfaces. The tread of the Wintrac xtreme S has two extra wide circumferential grooves. Combined with the V-grooves in the stable centre of the tire, efficient drainage is assured along with an optimal grip on wet surfaces.

In addition to the well-known “M+S” designation, the Vredestein Wintrac xtreme S also carries the “Three Peak Snowflake” symbol, allowing it to be sold as a winter tire around the world.

Oh, by the way, the Wintrac xtreme S remains very stable at top speeds as evidenced by its “Y” speed rating, suitable for the world’s fastest cars (up to 300 km/h).

Vredestein tires are imported in Canada by Grand Prix Import and sold through numerous outlets. Sizes range from 15"-22".
