Just in case there weren't enough to choose from in the segment, another compact crossover SUV will join the ranks this fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show: the brand new Mazda CX-5.
Featuring Mazda's brand new SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY as well as all-new gasoline (SKYACTIV-G 2.0) and diesel (SKYACTIV-D 2.2) engines, the CX-5 looks like a funky, modern-looking crossover that promises to offer a high-quality ride as well as outstanding fuel efficiency and safety. When engineering the CX-5, Mazda had a CO2 emissions target of less than 120g/km for the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 engine.
The look of the Mazda CX-5 reflects Mazda's brand new design theme: KODO – Soul of Motion which was first seen on the Mazda SHINARI and Mazda MINAGI concept cars. Most noticeable is the brand new front facade (sans silly grin).
Expect to see the new CX-5 hit the global markets in early 2012.
