Dutch rally driver Peter Van Merksteijn Jr has been hired by Citroen Sport to drive one of four works Citroen DS3s in the World Championship Rally Championship next year, putting a serious doubt on the chances of Petter Solberg and Kimi Raikkonen to be part of the team.
The arrival of Van Merksteijn is indeed a bad news for Solberg and Raikkonen since Citroen racing boss Olivier Quesnel indicated that the team would run only fourt works DS3s in 2011.
Sébastien Loeb and Sébastien Ogier will drive for the official team, so only one DS3 remains on the market.
Van Merkstein Jr. will take part in the development of the DS3 with Loeb and Ogier. His father, Peter Van Merksteijn Jr will contest selected rounds of the WRC in a Citroen DS3.
