Mikko Hirvonen (Ford) lost more than four minutes after an accident in ESS7 in Rally GB and was forced to stop on the road section heading back to service.
After a promising start of the day, Mikko Hirvonen was able to reduce the gap with Loeb, then moved up to the lead in ESS6. But, in the next stage, he went off the road and damaged his radiator and his suspension on his Fiesta. He was able to reach the assistance, but he lost about four minutes. Then, he was forced to stop on the road section heading back to service.
That put Sebastien Loeb in a ideal position, en route for an eight world title in-a-row. The Frenchman leads by 17.7 seconds ahead of Latvala’s Ford, while Mads Ostberg’s Ford Stobart moved up to third.
