French driver Sebastien Loeb revealed that his future in the World Rally Championship could be decided within the next two weeks.
Loeb, who is on track for an eight WRC crown, told British Autosport magazine that « They [Citroen] are waiting for me, so I have to make my decision during the next week. I will decide whether I stay at Citroen or stay in the rally, but with somebody else or retire and do something completely different. One thing is sure, I will not stop driving ».
There are several options for Loeb. He could stay with Citroen in WRC, but he has nothing to prove there, and there has been some tensions within the team this season. He could also decide to join Volkswagen as the constructor is about to make its WRC return with a Polo R in 2013.
The Frenchman could also stay in the PSA Group Peugeot-Citroen, by joining Team Peugeot Sport to drive the 908 in the brand new World Endurance Championship, that will be launched next season.
But Loeb already said that he was interested in the DTM. The backing of his main sponsor, Red Bull, could help him to join the Audi Team in the German touring car championship, with a brand new technical regulation in 2013.
The announcement should be made before Rally Germany, which will be run from August 18th to 21st.
