Gabriele Tarquini, who started from pole of Sunday’s World Touring Car Championship reversed grid at Zolder, survived the successive pressure of Chevy trio Yvan Muller, Rob Huff and Alain Menu to win the race.
The three Chevrolet drivers had taken a 1-2-3 finish earlier in the morning, in race 1, with Huff having the best of Menu and Muller who stole the third position from Tarquini laps before the end of race 1.
Tarquini was forced in defensive mode from the start of race 2 but was relieved of some pressure when Muller retired midway through.
While Huff remained in the back of the SEAT car, he fell down to sixth place after bouncing through the gravel when a challenge to the lead ended in a ‘tagged’ car.
The last of the three Chevy drivers was unable to make the pass on the lead and had to settle for a second place finish. Tarquini’s teammate Tiago Monteiro took the final spot on the podium of this race.
