Three tracks are being considered to host a race of the FIA WTCC, the World Touring Car Championship in 2010.
The first possibility is Tolyatti where Russian car manufacturer Lada is based, which is ready to build a permanent road circuit. The budget is believed to be in place and the plan has the support of the local authority. However, the city is located 800km east of Moscow.
A street circuit in Moscow is another possibility. This time, money seems to be a problem.
The city of St. Petersburg is the third candidate and has the huge advantage of its proximity to the rest of Europe. This time there are concerns over a lack of space to hold the event in the city.
The final decision will be made by the end of April and the event should be held in August 2010.
