Zipcar UK is celebrating the allocation of 33 new on-street spaces for its vehicles throughout the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. The car rental company is awarding 50 free memberships and 24 hours of driving to mark the occasion.
These free parking spaces are in addition to the already comprehensive package that the company offers its customers, who are able to reserve vehicles online for pay-as-you-go use. Charges also include insurance and fuel. Customers walk a minimal distance to a waiting car parked and ready to be used. Vehicles are rented on a daily or hourly basis, and a simple Zipcard is all that is needed to access the vehicle.
Paul McLoughlin, GM of Zipcar UK says: "The Council awarding us on-street spaces is an important move, offering residents and drivers an easy way to get around the City. The value of these designated spaces for residents and visitors is significant when you consider car owners often have to park several streets away, even if they have a resident's permit. With Zipcar you not only get a guaranteed parking space, but also free parking throughout the borough, reducing a lot of the hassle associated with driving."
In effect, Zipcar allows users to pay for driving on an hour by hour basis- including fuel and insurance. It's often a more cost effective alternative to car ownership.
