2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport - No Pretense in this Tough Guy SUV

Do you want an honest SUV? Nothing particularly fancy but a good, reliable, tough, 4x4 capable, body-on-ladder-frame sport utility that just happens to look really nice? Look no further than Mitsubishi's Montero Sport.

Like its bigger, more expensive brother with the same first name, the Sport is a purist at heart. It's not trying to bedazzle with on road handling acrobatics or over-the-top creature comforts, yet it still manages to corner quite well and comes well equipped with all the necessary features and a few just to pamper.

The level of pampering depends on the equipment specified. The $32,497 base Montero Sport, or ES, comes standard with air-conditioning, power windows and door locks, folding heated power side view mirrors, a height-adjustable steering column, driver's seat adjustable lumbar support and a fold down rear seat, plus a 2-speed rear wiper with fixed intermittent. A CD equipped 4-speaker 140-watt stereo system comes standard along with an AM/FM tuner. Mitsubishi chose to give all models the full color-keyed look which gives the Montero Sport an upscale appearance, even in base ES trim.
