2010 Mazdaspeed3 : Second generation priced at $32,995

When it arrives at Canadian dealerships in July 2009 the second-generation Mazdaspeed3, one of the fastest front-wheel drive cars available, will be priced at $32,995.


The 2010 Mazdaspeed3 is born from the expressive and dynamic design of the Mazda3 Sport hatchback but is differentiated by its Mazdaspeed exclusive front and rear bumpers, front fenders, scooped hood, rear spoiler, interior trim and fabric. The 2010 Mazdaspeed3 will be offered in Velocity Red, Crystal White Pearl, Celestial Blue Mica and Black Mica paint colours.

Releasing a follow up to a critically acclaimed sport compact such as Mazdaspeed3 isn’t an easy task, so a series of improvements were engineered to enable the second-generation Mazdaspeed3 to build on the legendary performance and handling of the original while adding a fresh new look.

Highlights of the 2010 Mazdaspeed3:

• Acclaimed MZR 2.3L DISI Turbo producing 263 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 280 ft.-lb. of torque at 3,000 rpm

• Specially-designed 6-speed manual transmission with wider gear ratios than before and triple-cone synchronizers for first, second and third gears and a double-cone synchronizer for fourth gear

• Special reinforcements inside the front cowl member gussets and a large tunnel member for increased body stiffness

• Modified spring rates, increased damping strength and larger diameter stabilizers for increased handling performance

•Now three highly rigid steering gear mount bushings instead of two used on the previous model for improved response to steering wheel action

• Electro-hydraulic power assisted steering (EHPAS)

• Electronic brake assist added to four-wheel ABS and DSC as standard equipment

•Wider 225/40/18 tires with improved grip, more rigid sidewalls and damping strength for more direct steering feel
