McLaren announced that the P1 supercar will combine a mid-mounted 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine with a high-output electric motor to generate a total of 903 horsepower. The production model will make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Emissions of less than 200 g/km on the combined cycle are reduced to zero in full electric mode, which offers a range of more than 10 kilometres. When the battery runs empty, the gasoline engine will automatically start to maintain propulsion and charge the battery. There's also a plug-in charger that can fully charge the battery in just two hours.
Further information about the McLaren P1 will be revealed closer to its Geneva launch.
