BMW X7
Much of what applies to the Q7 is just as valid for fellow large luxury German utility vehicle the X7. BMW’s innovations in terms of connectivity make its multimedia system a delight for tech geeks, and the customizable nature of the various displays is appealing to demanding types.
Wards also found much to like about BMW’s efforts to create an environment that can actually encourage certain moods in its occupants, from sporty to soothing. The portal to this is the “Caring Car” menu on the main screen. Here users can select Vitalize or Relax to suit their mood. The first will for example open the sunscreen and bring up a dance tune on the audio system, boost the seat ventilation system of a wakey-wakey and turn the ambient lighting green. The second vibe will conjure up more soothing music, reduce speed and noise of fans, change the lighting to something more zen, bring up the ambient temperature, etc.
Best part is, you can access your desired mood without touching any buttons; simply use the voice command system to tell it how you’re feeling.
The sophisticated tech is ably supported by massaging seats, wireless phone charging, eight different USB ports for minimizing aggravation, and metallic, wood and leather trim even in the third row. Here too, Wards found phone pairing to be a quick, simple affair.
