With its shimmering star turn since being introduced last year, the big, award-winning Kia Telluride has consigned little sibling the Sorento to the edges of the stage. That’s a tale as old as the ages, but you can add to the causes of the Sorento’s worries the fact that the aging Kia SUV, born in 2002 and now into its third generation, is already outdated, this despite annual visits to the plastic surgeon for a little nip and tuck.

# 1 It’s late in shedding its old skin
Kia’s plan was actually to roll out Generation 4 of the Sorento with great pomp at the Geneva Motor Show this past spring; it even previewed the model on February 17 of this year in South Korea. We all know what happened to that and every other auto show that was supposed to take place after mid-March of this year. The automaker had to make do with posting a few interior and exterior images of the new edition online to whip up interest.
# 2 Its new skin looks a winner
The revamped Sorento, which according to our patented Auto123 crystal ball will be available for sale before the end of this year as a 2021 model, shrugs off the frankly anonymous ovoid shell of old in favour of a much more athletic one replete with angles and bulges.
