7. Discreet? The X6 M Competition?
Beyond the “show-off” colour of my tester, the X6 M Competition actually respects the M division’s philosophy when decorating its models. There are a few exclusive features on the outside that confirm that this is not a basic X6, such as the four exhaust pipes, the more aggressive bumper and contrasting brake calipers, but for the rest, the X6 M Competition is a fairly sober-looking vehicle.
But then you engage one of its sharpest driving modes, such as "Track" mode – and this sober-looking Dr. Jekyll starts to act like Mr. Hyde…

8. 617 hp and 553 lb-ft, at your service
Sure, Jeep and Dodge already market 700-plus hp versions of their mid-size SUVs, but with 617 horses available under the right foot, the X6 M Competition is no turtle. The 8-speed automatic transmission that handles all that horsepower also does a very good job. Occasionally, there's some jerkiness, but that's only when the sport modes are selected or if the person behind the wheel is asking too much of the vehicle. But otherwise, this is an incredible powertrain.
