5. 1947 Chevrolet 3100
This all-new model inherited a name: Advanced Design. In certain respects, this is the model that became the ancestor of the Chevy products we have today. For the first time, the vehicles offered to consumers were not simply truck frames slapped onto car chassis. Rather, they were built on platforms designed for heavier use. Heavy trucks already existed, to be sure, but the pickup as an entity apart took its first steps here.
