However I look at it this way. Depreciation on high-end vehicles is often enormous. The thousands and thousands of dollars saved by purchasing a high-end vehicle several years into its life cycle will easily make up the difference and more, between its fuel costs and that of an econo-box. So hey, why settle for an econo-box?

If in the market for a 1991 to 1996 Q45, be weary of leaky valve covers and automatic transmission problems in the early 1990s units. Also, you may wish to inquire when the spark plugs were last changed, as it's a difficult job and can be very expensive. Fortunately though, the platinum tip plugs only require changing every 100,000 kilometers (60,000 miles), phew.

First generation Q45's have above average build quality and reliability ratings, and if well cared for should provide owners with years of trouble-free high-end motoring. Factor in continual depreciation and the car becomes more affordable each year, meaning the bargain-hunting car nut can't go wrong. Due to scarcity and awesome performance, I predict that in coming years the Q45 will become somewhat collectible.
