Overall, the 2001 Tahoe has grown up. It's now a civilized people hauler with highway manners that equal most of its peers. Refined as it may be, it's still quite capable of bumping and brawling in the dirt with the best of them. The timing was right for a redesigned Tahoe, as the full-size sport utility market has become much more competitive since its predecessor literally carved out the market niche. Ford's best selling Expedition, and now Toyota's superb new Sequoia, will make its fight for sales position challenging indeed. Fortunately, for GM's sake, the new Tahoe shows great improvement over last year's truck, easily good enough to keep Chevy loyalists faithful to the brand for many years to come.
