BUICK BENGAL

This looks like your average gorgeous roadster, but it isn't, for a quartet of reasons. In the first place, Bengal will seat four, which is what today's 20somethings want in a car. For this generation, going off with three friends is a more important object that going out with one special person. To accomplish this goal, Bengal has a tonneau cover that slides back to reveal the rear seats, and a rear door on the driver's side to let the passengers in. The second reason Bengal is different involves its transmission, which is a six-speed automatic that improves weight distribution and creates shorter front overhang. Different feature number three would be the Quiet Servant voice-activated controls (meaning there are no knobs or buttons to work), and feature number four is an NXT flat-panel speaker across the entire dashboard. If I had to guess, I would say that the Bengal or something very much like it will come into production wearing the Buick badge.

CADILLAC VIZON

Cadillac says this vehicle is not a wagon and not an SUV, "but rather the best of both, wrapped in Cadillac's luxury style, which melds art and science." So Vizon features an upscale interior, state-of-the-art infotainment systems for passengers, and the latest in traction control, collision avoidance provided by adaptive cruise control, and V8 power. It would not surprise me at all if Vizon, or something very much like it, also made it into production in the next couple of years. Indeed, it would surprise me if it didn't.
