CHEVY BORREGO
GM calls this "a rugged and fun sports adventure vehicle that just happens to be practical for commuting." The most unique features of Borrego would include a reconfigurable mid-gate behind the front seats that shifts backward into the cargo area to make room for two more passengers and the built-in compressor and water tank. This is the vehicle that uses a version of an all-wheel drive, H-4 drivetrain from Subaru, which GM describes as an alliance partner. I'm not so sure about the future of this vehicle, but who knows?
GMC TERRACROSS
This is a toned-down version of the hyper-aggressive GMD Terradyne concept that previewed earlier this year. GMC says TerraCross is "an industrial-precision crossover SUV with great driving performance and show-stopping good looks." It's aimed at a "young, sophisticated consumer who wants to entertain guests in style," GMC says. Key innovations in the TerraCross would include a three-panel roof that opens wide to reveal a large opening, swivel front chairs that turn the interior into a conversation pit, and wheels at the corners for superior handling. Again, we can expect to see this one or something very much like it.
HUMMER H2 SUT
GM says this is the "most daring, indestructible and capable power tool of a truck you could ever hope for," outside of the original Hummer, of course. H2 is "nearly infinitely adaptable to meet the demanding customer's needs for hauling stuff and people," and it is said to be "the most capable off-road vehicle GM has ever built, period." Interesting features in this vehicle would include a retractable bulkhead, the world's largest sunroof, a roof-mounted, 360-degree infrared night vision, state-of-the-art technology, including OnStar Virtual Advisor and GPS, and a highly adaptable exterior that allows "endless customization." As mentioned, we will absolutely be able to buy this vehicle in the near future.
