Relating the 1,000-hp 13.6-L V16 equipped Cadillac to youthful vigor is a bit of an understatement to say the least. Forget about saying the least, even considering the car's mammoth proportions resulting in an estimated curb weight exceeding 5,000 lbs (2,270 kg), acceleration should be more akin to a teenager doing the 100 yard dash pumped up on anabolic steroids, laced with amphetamines while ripped out on PCP. Even its maximum torque rating hits the mille mark, ample enough for towing your Hawker 800XP executive jet along behind, just in case traffic gets in the way of finalizing the next hostile take over, ahem, merger.

Of course, while the Sixteen is no doubt immensely quick, smooth power is the order of the day. Its engine, that obviously required more ingenuity than simply pairing two 4.6-L Northstar V8s end to end (that scenario, in case you'd rather not do the math, would result in a mere 9.2 liters), boasts fuel saving Displacement on Demand technology. The system shuts down half the cylinders during most driving conditions, increasing efficiency while reducing emissions, and then seamlessly reactivates them automatically when called upon by the driver's right foot.

In today's age of the-more-gears-the-better automatic transmissions the inclusion of a 4-speed electronically controlled gearbox seems a little passé. That said with 1,000 lb-ft of torque at the modified Hydra-Matic 4L85-E's disposal, why waste time shifting gears.
