Also in the same league is Jaguar's elegant XK8 roadster, but its build quality is suspect, soft fabric top less than ideal for colder climes and soft tonneau cover a pain to install. What's more, its torsional rigidity is rubbery, the exact opposite of the taut SC 430. Besides, it's also about $20,000 more expensive than the Lexus, go figure?

When all is said and done Lexus has brought to market a marvelous luxury sports car, worthy of comparison to the world's best. Kudos to the brand for entering the SC 430's high-stakes market at all, and more kudos for building such an exemplary product at nearly $40,000 less than its topmost competitor. It's a truly amazing accomplishment.
