The strange thing about the CLS is that it just might work. While Benz has perhaps the most extensive lineup of coupes currently available, the CLS fits perfectly into its own unique niche. Ideally, this is the perfect car to impress those that need impressing, for when style is of the utmost importance. After all, the C-Class based CLK is too small and thus not as impressive.
On the other hand, the CLS should provide high levels of comfort, at least up front. No doubt it will provide more rear comfort than the CL-Class with the added convenience of two extra doors, sans the hefty price tag.
We'll just have to wait and see if Mercedes-Benz will produce its first ever four-door coupe. If it does, will it pull in sales from rival brands or parasitically steal sales from one of the many other coupes or sedans in Merc's lineup? Again, patience is in order.
