The base Lancer ES features a chrome grille, color-keyed bumpers, tinted glass, auto-off headlights and 30-minute timed-off interior lights, a height adjustable steering wheel, center console with armrest and storage, high quality cloth seats and cloth door inserts, height adjustable front shoulder belts and a 140-watt, 4-speaker, AM/FM/CD audio system.
A Preferred Equipment Package adds air-conditioning, power windows and door locks, power sideview mirrors, an 8-way adjustable driver's seat, dual vanity mirrors, roof-mounted antenna and a truly attractive wood grain dash. The Lancer's upscale ambiance is further enhanced by the liberal use of high quality interior plastics and especially good fit and finish. An ES convenience package adds color-keyed door handles, remote keyless entry, and a 60/40 split folding rear seat with center armrest and integrated cupholders. The rear seat itself offers great legroom and adequate headroom for all but extremely tall passengers, making it comfortable for long distances. The trunk incorporates an extremely wide opening and a relatively low lift height making good use of its 320 L (11.3 cu ft) size.
Want more features? The Lancer LS improves the feature list with a standard 4-speed automatic transmission, replacing the base models 5-speed manual, 2-speed intermittent wipers, cruise control, 15-inch alloy wheels and two more speakers to the stereo.
For its top-of-the-line Lancer, Mitsubishi has hooked up with noted wheel manufacturer O.Z, supplier of F1, CART, IRL, GT, Touring Car and Rally teams. Ironically the O.Z website lists Ford, Hyundai, Peugeot and Seat as World Rally partners, while showing photos of the Subaru WRX, and doesn't include Mitsubishi in the list. No matter, Mitsubishi's rallying success with the Lancer Evolution series is impressive to say the least, and this O.Z Rally package pays homage to the brands motorsport heritage.
