The rest of the suspension is fairly commonplace, but still respectable. A fully-independent McPherson strut front setup incorporates a rubber-isolated hydroformed subframe to calm noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels, joining a 4-link independent linkage in the rear. My test Vector showed off a gorgeous set of upgraded 10-spoke 17-inch alloy rims wrapped in extremely sticky Pirelli PZero P225/45WR17 performance tires.

While difficult, if you manage to overwhelm the basic mechanical bits the 9-3's electronic aids will take the helm. The Vector features standard Electronic Stability Program (ESP), brake assist (BA), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Traction Control System (TCS).

There's a defeat button for the ESP on the dash to the right of the gauge package, with additional switches for the information system nearby allowing the driver to set preferences for electronic systems and manipulate the trip computer. The center stack is filled with switches, knobs and buttons too, all of the highest quality, with that refined tactile quality that premium customers now expect.

To the right and just below the large central air vent are the audio system controls - that incidentally can also be actuated via steering wheel mounted buttons. A 'Select' knob allows scrolling through the small display screen, where the desired function can be chosen. While the expected radio and CD modes are present, a cell phone is also accessible through the interface, made most apparent by a twelve button dial pad that also subs for station presets when in radio mode. The sound system's audio quality is quite good, leaving no reason for the average music lover to upgrade to an aftermarket system. By the way, a 6-disc CD changer is located at the lower end of the center stack, just below the climate control system.
