Another attribute of inline-sixes is a near perfect balance and smoothness inherent in the design. This particular example was initially developed with the assistance of Porsche, so you can bet that it will spin with turbine-like refinement.

The Epica is the first mass-produced vehicle to feature a transverse mounted inline six-cylinder engine. This arrangement enables a larger cabin design without a significant increase to exterior dimensions, as is generally the case when the bonnet conceals six cylinders standing in a line.

Epica's engine is mated only to an intelligent four-speed automatic transmission, capable of recognizing and remembering a driver's preferences, shifting automatically from economy, to normal, to sport mode as needed. The transmission also adjusts for uphill or downhill driving and helps control the car on slippery roads, which in our Canadian climate can be highly beneficial. Speaking of the Canadian climate, a block heater is standard on this little darling, eh.

As impressive, the Epica is independently suspended at all four corners. The double wishbone front suspension features upper and lower A-arms to minimize camber changes and help maintain front wheel contact with the road. The five-link rear suspension includes a trailing link, two longitudinal links and an upper A-arm for independent wheel control on bumpy roads. Also, MacPherson struts, anti-roll bars and gas-charged shocks are part of the sophisticated package. The entire setup is intended to provide a combination of premium ride quality and sporty, competent handling.
