The current base Sebring comes with a bevy of standard equipment. Standard power features now include locks, windows, heated mirrors and trunk release. Air conditioning, tinted glass, tachometer, cruise control, tilt steering, engine block heater and an engine immobilizer - all new for 2002 - are included at no extra cost. Also, a 4-speaker AM/FM audio system is standard across the Sebring sedan line with a single CD player, while an Infinity system with a 4-disc dash-mounted CD player and cassette is optional on all models. The LXi adds fog lamps, leather seats with folding front armrest and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob. Also 16-inch chrome aluminum wheels can be ordered optionally, and they look stunning. Other options will include a security alarm, trip computer, power sunroof and heated front seats.

The base Sebring will continue to be powered by a 150 hp 2.4-L inline 4-cylinder with 16-valves, DOHC and 167 lb-ft of torque. This is adequate for most applications but those who enjoy the get-up-and-go of a V6 will want to opt for Chrysler's carryover 24-valve, DOHC 2.7-L with 200-hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. It is one of the sweetest engines in its class, with plenty of smooth power to make merging from onramps onto fast paced highways a breeze.

The Sebring sedan sports a fully-independent suspension system upgraded with larger diameter front and added rear stabilizer bars in LXi trim. The sport-tuned suspension, with a 'firm-feel' steering variation of the already good power-assisted rack-and-pinion system, was new in 2002 and should remain available as an option.

If you order a 2.7-L V6 equipped 2004 Sebring without anti-lock brakes (ABS) you'll also get rear brake drums instead of 4-wheel discs. Order ABS and rear discs become standard. Also, traction control is now available when ABS is ordered.
